XTool Laser Honeycomb Magnetic Pin Spikes

Description: This is a set of 4 magnetic pin spikes for use with your XTool laser’s honeycomb. Additional sets are shipped at no additional cost. These magnetic pin spikes are ideal when engraving glass or mirrors, or when cutting a drop test. These will work with other brands of honeycomb beds provided the cells are steel (not aluminum) and the cell size will allow insertion of the magnet. The magnetic pin spikes are used to elevate material off the honeycomb bed when cutting or engraving. The elevation increases air circulation, smoke extraction and significantly reduces or eliminates ghost images from the honeycomb on your material. Elevation off the honeycomb also reduces the chance of small cut pieces becoming lodged in the honeycomb that might catch the laser head’s shield. These magnetic pin spikes are available in two different sizes. The small size magnets are 1/4" (~6.3mm) in diameter. The large size magnets are 3/8" (~9.5mm). These will fit in cells that are somewhat larger since the magnet only needs to make contact with the steel cell sides. They will also fit in cells that are somewhat smaller since the cells aren't welded and will spread a small amount when pressing the magnets in. Before purchasing, please verify the cell size of your honeycomb by measuring with a dial caliper as shown in the measurement detail photo. I have 3 honeycombs made by XTool and no two are alike. The smaller pin spikes fit the original XTool honeycomb that had inch measurements only on the left and front edges. The later versions have larger cells and the frame includes both imperial (inch) and metric measurements. The large sized pin spikes fit both of the newer styles, one a perfect fit, one a bit snug and requires a bit of pressure to place within the cell. Sample images of the two styles of XTool honeycombs (old and new) are included in the listing and displayed when selecting the magnet size. How they work: The pin spikes consist of a magnet, washer, screw and threaded spike. The magnet is placed inside the cell of your steel honeycomb with the washer and spike facing upward. The magnet and washer hold the spike upright and in place. The top of the spike is elevated from the work area so the contact area is minimal, reducing ghost images caused by smoke when engraving.
