Description: Species Name: ?? Cultivar: Dark hornet Common Name: Weigela Age: about 20 years Size category: Shohin Care Difficulty: Intermediate Light Exposure: Partial sun Recommended USDA Plant Hardiness Zone: 4-9 Specimen origin: Nursery rehome Last repotting: March 2024 Soil: 50% pine bark, 10% sand, 40% tap soil About this tree: Got it 3 years ago when my local nursery was replacing old weigela on their front yard by weeping atlas cider. As I was told, it was planted at least 15 years ago. I reduced root ball pretty successfully and worked on ramifications a bit. It naturally have amazingly beautiful bark, good taper, great nebari and some air roots. It flowers every year! Care recommendations: I would recommend to follow standard deciduous yearly care cycle- hard pruning at winter, repotting at spring, defoliating at summer. Nevertheless, I would advise not to go above and beyond with pruning and exfoliating as tree needs those nutrients for flowering at spring. It always flowers, no matter what, just make sure it would not kill itself by it. Also, I would not recommend to use wire. Ever. Just not to damage the bark. Because you WILL damage the bark, no matter how careful you are (and wether or not you using wire, for that sake 😰) Styling recommendations: Returns/refunds policy: Unfortunately, I can't guarantee that the tree would live a long and happy life under your care. Nevertheless, shipping tree properly is my responsibility. If the package arrived in time, you opened it on the same (or the next) day and the tree is dead I would refund you the full price of that plant. Some of my trees naturally got a layer of moss on the soil surface. Unfortunately, moss, in my experience, can't handle shipping as easily as other plants. But even if moss died because of shipping- don't worry, it would grow back from spores in 2-4 months with proper watering.
