Description: Your TV-1 booster is in pretty good shape for its age -- that model was introduced in 1951. But the Turner Company was never, so far as I have learned, part of or predecessor to Collins Radio. Turner and Collins both started out independently in the 1930s in Cedar Rapids (Turner in '31, Collins in '33), and Turner did some contract work for Collins in the early 1950s, but they aren't otherwise related to each other. The Turner Company was also a big maker of embalming machines! The TV-1 was Turner's first TV signal booster model. The cabinet is actually of wood, with a unique speckle paint job. The model TV-2, introduced in 1952, had a shiny Bakelite cabinet of the same shape. The circuit, a Mallory Inductuner and a 12AT7 dual triode tube, was the same in both models. Price was $57.50 list in 1952. You can see more TV signal boosters at tv-boxes period com. Above is updated information from an ebay member. I believe this to be more accurate than my original posting (see down below.) My original descriptioin: Vtg Turner Signal Booster Model TV-1 Collins Radio Cedar Rapids Iowa. This is a signal booster made by Turner (Microphone/radio) precursor to Collins Radio. Believe it to be Bakelite I plugged it in, but did not light up. Measures 6” tall, 8” long and 6” deep.
