For Sale As Is : one very used pair of Ray Ban Sunglasses, USA Made by Bausch & Lomb and acquired by the original owner at McMurdo Antarctic base during Operation Deep Freeze. Please read the entire description before buying this item and see the pics and consider the overall condition. They are definitely rare and collectible, but they also saw a lot of use. This item comes with the original case which has had a sticker attached to the lower right front. The outline of this sticker can probably be easily cleaned with Goo Gone. The original owner also wrote "Deep FREEZE 69" in ink inside the cover flap as he "Wintered-Over" from 1968-1969. The "aluminum with zinc" frame inside the case is starting to show, but also makes for a very strong case. The snap works, but isn't tight. The sunglasses themselves have some scuffing on the lenses and some loss of coating, the nose pads are very worn, the temple tips are very worn, there is a cross piece above the nose piece, the temples are spread quite wide ( this could probably be bent back to normal but I can't guarantee it ) which makes for a very loose fit. The frame is the 1/10 12K Gold frame as it should be ( see pic ). I have done my best to describe the condition accurately and please give this thorough consideration before buying as they are sold AS IS. You can find other examples of this rare pair of sunglasses on ebay with much better condition priced in the thousands of dollars. There are even unused pairs listed for over $15000.00. Some have the kind of case I have listed, others don't ( but, in my opinion, probably should, again, my opinion only ).
