Description: Item description: Up for sale is PARKER MODERNE fountain pen in brown with white-blue veins. Shiny pen with brown color sparkling in gold tone. This pen was made in CANADA dates back to the early 30's so it's almost 100 years old. The pen is very well preserved. It can fit as a valuable addition into any collection, and is a quality pen that will perfectly function, as a daily writer. The pen is fitted with the reliable button filling system. The imprint on the barrel is clear and legible. The pen is in full perfect working and writing order. Fully inspected, cleaned, tested and ready for use. Parker introduced the Moderne, one of their so-called Thrift Pens during the great depression of the early 1930's. The Moderne was an entry level pen developed to try and compete with all the other major manufacturers desperately looking to maintain their pre-depression sales. To a degree this worked, the Moderne was a good looking pen and sales were steady if not spectacular. This and other models in the Parker portfolio helped them survive the crisis and gave them much needed breathing space to finance the development of the Vacumatic which was destined to become a legend. It was disassembled, fully inspected, cleaned and new ink sac was fitted, tested and ready for enjoyable use with your favorite ink, for many more years. It is rated as very good and not mint just because there is a small gap between the clip and top button. Clip is firmly holds on cap, not loose and doesn't rotate. And because of a tiny hairline barely noticeable crack on barrel lip, which is shown with large magnification on last photo. Rolled gold caps, clips and trims. The golden trims have no signs of ruinous oxidation or rust. The pen has all its original parts, the original imprint in very good readable condition. The barrel markings are easy to read. They were not polished or cleaned to keep clear crisp imprint of manufacturers original engravings.
