Description: This vintage Florentine box was the treasure chest of a young boy in the 1930's - 1940's. I could not bear to remove his miniature animal collection, so the animals are included as well. The wood box has a hinged lid and never has a lock or hasp. The interior measures about 5 1/8" X 3 3/8". The exterior at the widest points measures 6 1/2" long 4 1/2" deep and about 4" tall. The box is painted brown with gold accents. There is a little old wear to the gesso and paint on one edge of the cover, otherwise only very, very light scattered wear. It has a nice old surface. The bottom of the box is marked Made In Italy. Some of the animals inside have breaks to legs, etc. but most are in good shape. A couple of the carved wood figures may be Noah's Ark figures. Others may Cracker Jack prizes.
