Description: NEW LOW PRICE. PRICED TO SELL! NO OFFERS SENT OR ACCEPTED. This is a stunning, hand painted and jeweled, gilt porcelain footed bowl made in Austria at the Count Thuns factory in Klasterec and imported to New York City circa early 1900s. The bottom has the importer's mark as well as "Melville" which may be the artist or the pattern. The bowl measures approximately 6.5" long x 5.25" wide x 2.75" tall and is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There is minor wear - especially on the bottom of the feet which is to be expected. The interior of the bowl has a wonderful glossy iridescent glazing which works well with the outer design. There is gilding to the rim, the feet, and the triangular areas where the raised jeweling is located. Please inspect the photos as they are part of the description. Several importers used this import mark beginning with PH Leonard Co. who went bankrupt in 1898. He was succeeded by Bawo & Dotter, Charles Dwenger, and finally, Paul A. Straub in 1915. NOTE: There are two choices for shipping: USPS Ground Advantage and USPS Priority Mail. Priority Mail should arrive faster and is usually handled more carefully but the choice is yours.
