Description: **US SHIPPING ONLY** Here's an early parlor guitar, made by the Cleveland guitar company out of New York. I can find no info about this particular brand, so I'm guessing it dates somewhere between the 1890s and 1930s. You will find a video of me below playing the guitar a bit so you can get an idea of it's sound, apologies for a few musical flubs here and there on my part. So here's as accurate as a description as I can give. What we have here is the result of several months of restoration work. When I found the guitar, someone had used glitter paint and silver sharpie to paint flowers all over the back. The neck was barely attached to the body, being held in place by some sort of improvised metal bracket. The finish was pretty rough as well. I went to my friend who runs a cabinet shop and is a wizard with wood, and together we brought it back to life. The back and sides of the body have been refinished and lacquered. The front has only a new clear coat of lacquer... the original finish and all of its "crackle" remains. The neck, as you can see, had a weird repair made years ago where the "foot" at the base of the neck has been replaced. The slot where the neck slides in looks a little wonky due to this repair, but everything has been sanded and glued and is very solid. The action was too high initially, so the neck has been reset (it was falling off anyway...). The action is still a little high, common with old guitars, but usable. There had also been a repair (and a tiny piece missing) at the top of the sound hole... that's the way it came when I got it. Pictured also is a superficial separation between pieces of wood on the front of the instrument that is inconsequential. The tuners that came on the guitar are old but probably not original as there's been a second set of holes for the tuners drilled. I had to replace some of the screws and other parts on the tuners, so some have flat head screws and some have phillips. One of the horizontal braces on the inside of the body looks to be missing, but the construction of the body is solid as it is, nothing is loose or flexes. The bracing is not "x" style, it is all horizontal. A new pin for a guitar strap at the bottom of the body has been installed, as well as new pins to hold in the strings. I have a brand new set of Martin "retro" strings on it. I'm not sure I like these strings as they are certainly like the type of strings found on these old instruments- they are rough on the fingers! The guitar measures about 37 1/2 inches from the top of the headstock to the bottom of the body. The neck has no cracks, bridge appears to be original. I have an old beat-up case off another guitar that's a little too big and missing a handle. I'll be using it primarily for protection in shipping... do what you want with it, but you might want to invest in something better. Hope this covers all the bases. We've enjoyed working on this guitar and now it's time to let someone else enjoy it.
