Description: Vintage Browning 1918FIW Lockblade Folding Hunter Pocket Knife.Rare find.vintage Browning model 1918 FIW lockblade pocket knife. This is small folding hunter model that was likely made in the 1980's. Like most of the early Japan-made Browning knives, these knives were handmade and offer quality and performance more consistent with premium-quality customs than that of production knives. It's a compact folder with a thin profile that makes it ideal for pocket carry. This is a very difficult model to find. When Browning began offering knives in 1968 the first knives were made in the U.S. with production later being moved to Germany for a short period and then Japan. The knives from Japan were initially made in Seki by some of the finest knifemakers in the world, including Ichiro Hattori. This knife is one of the earlier knives that was made in Japan and it exhibits excellent craftsmanship. The knife shows very few signs of use and remains in excellent condition with no problems at all. The knife was beautifully crafted and offers the finest in Browning quality and performance. It has that certain special feel of premium-quality precision. The sleek blade was crisply ground and polished to a deeply mirrored finish. Blade travel is very smooth over the entire arc and lock-up is rock-solid. The lock engages with crisp precision and an audible click. Blade to spring alignment is near perfect with no over-blading or under-blading. The blade remains completely solid and tight in the open position with no wobble or play. Lock release is very smooth and easy. The edge shows no obvious wear and it's free of any cracks, chips, dings, or damage. It remains sharp and the knife is ready for immediate use. The needle-sharp tip is intact and original with no blunting, burrs, or bending. The bolsters are of stainless steel and they have a heavy brushed satin finish with beveled edges. They're free of any marring or damage with just a couple light abrasions from storage/handling as shown. The handle is of some type of exotic hardwood (likely Cocobolo or Walnut) and it's beautifully grained. The wood was nicely finished and the silky-smooth surfaces impart a rich warmth to the hand. The handle is free of any cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or damage and shows very little (if any) wear. The wood is free of any sun fade, bleaching, water exposure, or environmental damage with no stains or discoloration. The knife measures 2-3/8" closed and just over 4-1/8" fully opened. It weighs in at just over half an ounce.A beautiful, original example of this scarce, vintage Browning lock blade folding hunter.I am also including Priority Shipping in price.
