Description: This interesting and visually appealing piece is a design lifted, from, and meant to replicate the 15th-16th century Caltagirone ceramics. Took a bit of research to find out what it was. Turns out this is an equivalent to a hold water bottle, I had been just sure it was some sort of wine jug, or water jug, which I guess it is the latter in some ways, but definitely not a drinking water way. In specific it is referred to as a hand warmer, which once you feel the piece it is easy to see why. Its smooth concourse and soft finish makes it very appealing from a tactile view. It is made where your hands easily conform to the bottle, and with two handles it was much easier to carry it securely as well. When you chance to see a true Antique from the period, it appears they must have put water in and left it there, simply setting the whole thing into the coals to heat it up, at least that’s my guess, as the antique ones often have char marks on the bottom and sides. This object came in many forms, including animals, and books, very interesting and worth the dive down the rabbit hole on the Net to see their history. was carried by wealthy women in the Medieval times in and around Sicily. I think this piece would be great on a bookshelf, and a great conversation piece, just take it down let your guest hold it, then ask them to identify it lol. It has been made by artisans in that area, and is meant to be a replica of these ceramics. It would be great displayed anywhere, and even with some dried flowers in it. Please look at the pictures carefully before bidding, as I do not see any damage, but I do not know much more about it.
