Description: Per Wikipedia, Tupelo Honey is the fifth studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was released in October 1971 by Warner Bros. Records. Morrison had written all of the songs in Woodstock, New York, before his move to Marin County, California, except for "You're My Woman", which he wrote during the recording sessions. The namesake for the album and its title track is a varietal honey produced from the flowers of the tupelo tree found in the Southeastern United States. The album features various musical genres, most prominently country, but also R&B, soul, folk-rock and blue-eyed soul. The lyrics echo the domestic bliss portrayed on the album cover; they largely describe and celebrate the rural surroundings of Woodstock and Morrison's family life with then-wife Janet "Planet" Rigsbee. Tupelo Honey received most of its success in America; it charted at number 27 on the Billboard charts, and in 1977 it was certified gold by the RIAA. The album yielded two hit singles, the hymn-like title track, and the R&B-flavoured "Wild Night". The third released single, "(Straight To Your Heart (Like A Cannonball", was less successful and did not enter the Billboard Hot 100. The album received mostly positive reviews from music critics at the time of its release. The album up for bid is a 1973 reissue of the original 1971 release. It was released on the Warner Brothers label and was manufactured at Columbia Records Terre Haute pressing facility. It consists of 9 tracks with a run time of 40+ minutegs. The cover has seen mild-moderate wear but is in VG condition. There is wear along the edges and there is aging discoloration and disc wear on the front and back covers (see photos). There is mild seam splitting on the upper right corners. The inner covers of this gatefold album are in vg condition also. The paper inner sleeve is original and in vg condition. However, it is a promotional cover and contains no album information. The recording has been clleaned, tested and recorded using Audacity. All tracks are free of skips and there is only mild background noise consisting of mild "clicks". On testing, I detected a single mild click on Side 1, track 4 (Starting A New Life), a single "click" on Side 2, track 1 (Tupelo Honey) and a couple of mild "clicks" on track 4 (Moonshine Whiskey) that do not interfere with the music. The sound is clean and strong. The disc surfaces show only mild signs of wear and there are no detectable scratches or scuffs to the touch. The record faces retain their gloss and all labels are clean and intact. I am a big fan of Van Morrison and this recording is one my favorites. The quality of this recording is VG/VG+ and a nice addition to anyone's collection. Enjoy the music!I always clean, listen and test every record I list on EBAY.
