Ulysses S. Grant Document Signed as President Framed Display JSA Authenticated

Description: Ulysses S. Grant born Hiram Ulysses Grant [1822 1885] was an American soldier, politician and statesman who served as the 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877. During the American Civil War Grant led the Union Army to victory over the confederacy. Listed for auction is a stunning framed display which contains an authenticated [DS] document signed by Ulysses S. Grant signed as president. The document is appointment of a Mr. Thomas H. Thompson as the Postmaster of Chester, Pennsylvania. The document is dated June 22, 1874, and is signed by the United States Postmaster James W. Marshall and by the president ''U.S. Grant'' in fountain pen. The document measures 14.00 x 17.50 inches, it has expected fold lines, even toning otherwise is in fine condition. The signature of the president and the Postmaster are bold and display very nicely, some of the handwritten text within the document are a tad light. The autograph has been authenticated by JSA James Spence Authentication Service and will be accompanied with a Letter of Authenticity. The display is stunning and mounted next to the document is a formal b/w portrait [8.00 x 6.00 inches] of Grant as president. Mounted below is a professionally engraved plaque which reads as follows, ''The 18th President of the United States of America. Ulysses S. Grant April 27, 1822 - July 23, 1885. In 1865, as commanding general, Ulysses S. Grant led the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy in the American Civil War. As an American hero, Grant was later elected the 18th President of the United States [1869-1877], working to implement Congressional Reconstruction and to remove the vestiges of slavery. The display has been professionally assembled and matted in all acid free materials with great attention to detail as follows. The outer matte is a quality black suede which has been accented with a silver wood filler. The display has been completed in a quality ornate silver wood frame to the dimensions of 29.00 x 20.00 inches. The display is stunning, completed in all quality materials, the autograph is bold, signed as president, authenticated and the display is a wonderful example of our 18th president and prominent Civil War general.
