Tim Cotterill is the world's biggest selling bronze sculpture artist. The highly collectable sculptures are usually frogs, which gave Tim Cotterill his nickname as the 'Frogman', but Tim also creates birds, geckos and koi too! Tim Cotterill Biography Born in Leicestershire in 1950, Tim would roam the countryside as a young boy in search of birds nests, frogs, newts and toads. His fascination for animals has led him to his new home town, Venice Beach in California where at the Frogman Foundry he creates these special bronze frogs. Tim Cotterill's bronze frog art began with the artist's fascination for metalworking and machinery. After leaving school at 15, Tim Cotterill completed a six-year electrical engineering apprenticeship before moving onto landscape design and construction, and stonemasonry. In the 1970s Tim Cotterill started designing and building radical wheeled vehicles and using the leftover elements to create welded steel animals and birds. These earlier pieces became collectible through private commissions, exhibitions, galleries and auction houses, including London's world-renowned Sothebys. Tim Cotterill's bronze collection still features birds today, predominantly owls which he will release every so often, and are always highly sought after. After a life-changing trip to California in 1972, Tim felt reborn. By 1990, he had moved to Los Angeles permanently, and lived in a rented garage in Venice Beach where he began designing and making his now famous bronze frogs. Over 30 years later, Tim lives in his own 'funky barn cabin compound' structure in bohemian Venice Beach. The Frogman Foundry, located in Southern California combines cutting edge manufacturing techniques with unparalleled attention to detail. Each bronze sculpture demands many hours of specialized production, each signed and numbered by Tim Cotterill.
