Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images closely.Six rare prints of photographs of the surface of the Moon taken by an Apollo 10 astronaut (Eugene Cernan, John Young or Thomas Stafford) through the window of the orbiting spacecraft, showing views on the farside and nearside, and revealing the craterous surface in sharp detail. Apollo 11's trajectory would be virtually identical to that flown by Apollo 10, and these photographs facilitated the identification of key landmarks that paved the way for Apollo 11's moon landing. The crew sent back descriptions of a surface they found to be 'pretty smooth, like wet clay.'These are vintage photographs, though the exact date of printing is not known, presumably quite close to the mission date.Provenance: Dreweatts, Space Exploration Photography and Ephemera, 17th May 2021. key words:
