Description: Texas Oil Belt Buckle 1901 Lucas Gusher Spindletop Brass Vtg 70s ADM ...an awesome old U.S. Oil History, "1901 Lucas Gusher Spindletop" belt buckle. Spindletop is an oil field located in the southern portion of Beaumont, Texas. On January 10, 1901, a well at Spindletop struck oil and blew for 9 days at a rate estimated at 100,000 barrels of oil per day. The Spindletop discovery led the United States into the oil age. This is a solid brass buckle with detailed artwork and darkened accents, made by Award Design Medals, in the 1970s. It is in pretty nice condition, as shown in the photos it does have some tarnish / patina, and some minor wear and tear from age or use. It measures approximately 3-5/8" x 2-3/4", fits a 1-3/4" wide belt and weighs about 3.8 oz. Please ask any questions before you buy, and look at all the photos for additional details about the condition, description and size of this buckle. What you see is what you are buying.
