Description: British Parliament 1925 Vintage Lithograph Spoleto, Italy, by Harding James Duffield Harding (English, 1798-1863) Edward Francis Finden, Engraver (English, 1791-1857)Spoleto is a city in Umbria, Italy. It’s surrounded by hills, olive groves and vineyards. Dating from the 12th century, Spoleto Cathedral has a porticoed facade embellished by a mosaic. Inside is a cycle of frescoes by the medieval artist Filippo Lippi. George Gordon, Lord Byron, during his Mediterranean and Levant tour of 1809-1811, wrote a total of 92 letters, 28 occasional poems and 7 varia. Although not intended for publication in most cases, the texts are in reality travel writing and, as happens so frequently in texts of that kind, the young Byron often passes judgment on the national characters he comes across during his journey.1833 Steel-Plate Historical Engraved Illustration William and Edward Finden successfully marketed Lord Byron’s life and literary works in sleek, well-illustrated packages, including Landscape and Portrait Illustrations of the Life and Works of Lord Byron (3 vols., 1833–1834), Some age, foxing & handling wear - Still a Great image ----- Reverse is blank --- Published in London in1833 by John Murray, Albemarle Street (Smaller engraving) FULL PAGE Size: Approximately 7" X 5.5" Blank on Reverse Condition: Excellent - Very Good - Good+ - Fair - Poor (but of historical interest) Some age toning (slightly exaggerated in picture) but still present, occasional smudges, spotting and light handling wear << Click Here to See Other History Prints >> This is an Original Print- Not a Reproduction Important: P/H is combined on multiple items that can be mailed together. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty.
