Description: This is a rare, hand signed, Alex Webb print which was sold during Magnum Photos' Up Close & Personal: The Most Intimate Photographs from Magnum Square Print Sale in November 2015. Last copy of this photograph available! Condition: Brand New/Mint. SIGNED The print is hand SIGNED on the back, the accompanying text label is attached to the back of the print and is of archival quality. Magnum Square Prints are printed on Fuji Crystal archive paper and come in an archival and protective sleeve. All prints are archival quality and are approved by the photographer. Magnum worked closely with photographers and estates to ensure that all editions were presented according to their intentions. Paper size: 6 x 6 in (15.24 x 15.24 cm) Image Size: 5.5 in (14 cm) on the longest side The print was issued in an un-numbered Limited Edition (limited to the number of prints purchased during the 7 days in which the sale was open to the public). It is sure to become a highly collectible photograph given the provenance linking it directly to the Magnum Photos collective and to the photographer. Text on the archival label attached to the back of the print: “In 1996 after returning from the US-Mexico border, I showed my new work to Rebecca Norris, who I’d been seeing for some six months. When we came to this photograph from Nuevo Laredo, Rebecca smiled bemusedly and said, ‘muy romantico.’ Looking again, I began to see that it does indeed strike a different note. Although inhabited by those deep shadows that characterize much of my border work, this particular photograph is quieter, more lyrical. It’s as if it’s human moments—the couple embracing, the father holding his child—somehow manage to keep the darkness at bay, at least briefly. Photographers don’t just find photographs; sometimes photographs find photographers. In retrospect, it hardly seems surprising that this photograph found me when it did—as I was falling for the remarkable woman and lyrical photographer who’s the love of my life.
