Golden Burley - This is probably our favorite tobacco of all time. The plants are both tall and very wide, producing large harvests. Leaves are enormous, reaching 34" in length and up to 18" across. It has a mild nutty flavor burley is know for. It air cures easier than any variety we know of. Leaves turn bright yellow when ripe. It cures to a light golden brown, thus it's name. Burley is an excellent base tobacco when mixing blends, or enjoyed by itself. Medium/High nicotine. 2. Hopi - Rustica - Hopi is believed to be the earliest tobacco cultivated in the US. It is a stout and rugged strain. It can handle virtually any weather conditions. It is smaller than other tobaccos, but makes up for it in flavor and power. It is full flavored and is very strong. Should always be blended for smoking. Also great for making natural nicotine based pesticide. +++VERY HIGH NICOTINE 3. Black Sea Samsun - This is a Oriental/Turkish variety that originates in the Samsun region of Turkey near the Black Sea. Samsun has a very unique, rich flavor. Plants and leaves are the smallest of the tobaccos listed here. The largest leaves measure around 12" long and 8" wide. Cured leaves range from bright yellow to deep brown. Plants usually grow to around 5-6 feet tall. Due to their smaller size plants can be spaced closer together in the garden. Medium nicotine. 4. Long Red - Long Red is a cigar variety that grows well just about everywhere. Many cigar tobaccos an be tricky to grow, but not Long Red. It is a heavy producer of very long leaves. The leaves make excellent binder and filler. Larger lower leaves provide excellent wrapper as well. Smokes great in a pipe as well. Is unique and delicious in a cigarette blend. Leaves cure to a beautiful reddish brown. Medium to full bodied with medium nicotine. 5. Kelly Burley - The plants have medium sized leaves that grow on open, upright plants and tend to ripen uniformly. Kelly, is also known as Kelley, is a Burley tobacco that has been historically used as a plug tobacco, for cigarette and pipe blends, and even as a cigar filler tobacco. Medium nicotine. 6. Havana 263 - This strain is a Cuban Seed variety. It is known internationally as a top producing cigar tobacco strain. It is also however a excellent candidate for cigarette and pipe blending. It is a fast growing plant with excellent disease resistance. Produces wide, thick leaves that cure to a dark chocolate brown. One of the best cigar tobacco strains we have grown. Medium body flavor and medium/high nicotine. 7. Virginia Brightleaf - A very historic flue cured Virginia type. Typically used is pipe and cigarette blends. Mild and sweet flavors. Large pointed dark green leaves that cure to a dark brown. Low to medium nicotine content. Expect a 3-5 day handling time
