The instrument was open box upon purchase but otherwise new. It is lightly tarnished as it sat in the open for a little over a month (which is reflected in the pictures and price) and shouldn't be too terrible of a polishing job if you're familiar with the process; there are no dents or dings, with only a few minor scuffs to the bell due to the stand it was sitting on, which had only been used that one time.
