Description: You are bidding on a Selmer Mark VII Tenor Saxophone with serial number M.256473 which indicates it was made in 1976. I originally bought this sax at a pawn shop in Tampa in the mid 90's. Though I did play it some, most of the time it was stowed away in it's leather case. I had the pads replaced about 10 years ago and have plenty of life left in them. There are decorative engravings on the bell as was the case with many horns of this era. The lacquer finish is fairly degraded as is the case with most of these old horns. I actually love the look as it reminds me of the Mark VI saxes I played in school that usually had no lacquer left but sounded great and played so well. I never played this horn heavily as I just had it for occasions that I needed to record a sax track in the studio. I love the sound of this sax. It has a lovely presence in recordings and definitely has its place in contemporary and pop music. The upper register of notes sing beautifully. By comparison, I always thought other tenor sax brands sounded weak and thin in the upper register. This sax nails it and it makes me sad to have to sell it. The sax has a couple of minor dents near the lower thumb rest. This doesn't seem to affect the sound whatsoever. I'm sure a minor setup by a horn pro will get this sax playing even better! I am posting a video of me playing it so you can hear it in action. (The reed was missing a few fragments and was off center when I played it – see photo) I like the spacing of the keys as everything is easy to reach for me. But please research this sax and even play one if you can so you know what it's going to feel like in your hands. Includes a red leather soft case. Winning bidder pays for insured shipping. Good luck! Here's a video link to hear it played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFsHFZtvKmQ
