Description: Offered here is a glossy 8X10 color photo reproduction of the Pinkerton’s New York Racing Security Service original photo identification file for SECRETARIAT! The front of the file was the standard Universal Horse Identification System which shows a front view of the horse, side view of the horse and the night eyes (Chestnuts) on SECRETARIAT’S 4 legs. These Chestnuts are a callus area found on the inner side of the leg above the knee. They vary in size and shape and are sometimes compared to the fingerprints in humans since they are unique to each horse. The information in the file includes his Foal Certificate Number, Tattoo Number, Color, Sex, Head, Leg Marks, Body Marks, Identifier and Photographer, etc. It is dated 7/4/72, which was the date of SECRETARIAT’S first race. This was used to identify SECRETARIAT as he travelled from track to track. Included in this lot with the photo is the Pinkerton’s ID sheet which was attached to the back of the original I.D. File. It includes: Color, Sex, Foal Certificate Number, Date Foaled, Sire (BOLD RULER), Dam (SOMETHINGROYAL), Tattoo Number, Owner (Meadow Stable), Trainer (Lucien Laurin), Breeder (Meadow Stud, Inc.), Date of Photography and Markings Taken with the Identifier and Photographer (7/4/72), Head markings, Leg markings and Body markings. In the upper right corner it says Cert. and Dam Verified By J.C. on 7/4/72 NYRA. The Pinkerton National Detective Agency, usually shortened to the Pinkertons, was a private U.S. Security Guard and detective agency established by Allan Pinkerton in 1850. Pinkerton's agents performed services ranging from security guarding to private military contracting work. At its height, the Pinkerton National Detective Agency employed more agents than there were members of the standing army of the U.S. Pinkerton was the largest private law enforcement organization in the world at the height of its power. The original File was an incredible piece of history and a totally unique SECRETARIAT item which was sold over 10 years ago. To be VERY CLEAR, this is a photographic COPY of the original Identification File. The photo is beautifully produced on high quality photo paper and is in mint condition.
