Royal Staffordshire Pottery Wilkinson Flow Blue Creamer - 4" H - IRIS

Description: This flow blue porcelain creamer made by A.J. Wilkinson of Royal Staffordshire Pottery in Burslem, England, has really stood the test of time. Part of the beloved Iris pattern, this deep cobalt and white creamer outlined in bright gold melds many Art Nouveau influences, including long, swirling leaves, flowers and more than one dotted pattern. It measures 4 inches high from its base to the tip of the spout, with a length of 5.5 inches from the outside of the handle to the spout's end. The creamer's opening is 3 inches in diameter. Its condition is excellent. There is no crazing and there are no cracks. Its gloss and shine are fully intact. It has retained a large amount of its blue and floral decoration, as well as the gold decoration at the base, on the handle and throughout the piece itself. Flaws? There is one very small chip on the creamer's underside, along with some signs of wear underneath (see 3rd to last photo). The gold around the rim at the top has definitely lost some of its luster. There are a few scratches inside the creamer that have discolored the porcelain (see 2nd to last photo), which is an ideal location considering no one will see it unless they peer in, ha. Above the gold outline at the base, there are a few bumpy spots that are not obvious unless you rub your finger over them; they appear to be original to the piece (see last photo). Finally, there are two microscopic pinholes that also look original to the piece. The manufacturer's mark stamped on the creamer's underside says "Iris" Royal Staffordshire Pottery - Burslem, England - F C, which was used from 1907 on without the Wilkinson name, dating this creamer's creation to sometime soon after that period. *Please note: I have posted or will be posting in the next few weeks a number of additional Iris items on ebay if you are a fan of this pattern.
