Description: Classic Roseville Pine Cone decorative plate in a beautiful blue color gradient, c. 1935. Introduced in 1935, Pine Cone is one of Roseville’s most famous and collectible pottery lines and originally came in blue, green, and brown; blue plates from this line are hard to come by. The pinecone and needle details are cleanly molded and glazed, making this plate a very nice example of the Pine Cone pattern. This is a decorative vintage item in the timeless Arts and Crafts style, and would look lovely displayed on its own or holding light and non-scratchy items in an entryway, bedroom, office, wherever! The plate is in overall nice condition, but please note the visible chip on the rim of the plate's blue edge, which does not interfere with the sculpted design elements of the plate (see third and fourth photos) and could likely be mended by a skilled potter. There is also some minor wear on the face of the plate consistent with some use, more visible at certain angles and distances than others (see last photo). The lighter colored dots on the surface are from the manufacturing process and are not damage. From the estate of a longtime collector here on Cape Cod. The plate measures 7.5” in diameter. Lightly drawn “R” on the base, consistent with Roseville’s early Pine Cone pattern marking practice.
