Description: This pendant has the whirling log symbol, nice stamping & light patina. It is 1 1/2" tall and 3/4" wide. Stamped on the back "sterling" and tested sterling. Navajos used the whirling log symbol in trader jewelry from the mid 1800s up until WWII (for obvious reasons). This is probably a Fred Harvey era pendant, definitely vintage & very rare. The pendant bale will accommodate a 3mm chain or smaller. Vintage Navajo. Made in the USA by a Native American. 925 Silver. Pendant only. Please be sure to read our descriptions carefully and see all our photos. We take really good pictures so you know exactly what you're getting. Whirling Log info: The Navajo Whirling Log symbol, also known as Náhółhis, is a sacred symbol that represents balance, good luck, and protection. This symbol has been found in cave drawings 6000 years old.White trading post owners pressured Diné artists to incorporate the Whirling Log into their jewelry and textile designs in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
