Description: New, near-fine | 1st American edition, translated from Russian. This volume was acquired still wrapped in original plastic, which was opened just now to reveal CP for the purpose of photographing. Dust jacket remains glossy and new, pages bright white, crisp, and clean. Spine is straight and unbroken. Dust jacket contains no chips, no stickers, no creases at all. Pages contain no inscriptions or former owner's name, no markings of any kind. Only deficiency is that the plastic wrap was torn slightly in one place, leaving the bottom right corner of the book exposed. As such, there's a very slight discoloration to the page edges in this spot, as well as to the inner crease of the book jacket there. See photos. Due to plastic wrap and firmness of spine, this is a clearly unhandled item, remaining in new condition despite it's 1985 publishing date and 38-year life. Already rare title in English, this is quite possibly the best condition copy that remains. A keystone piece for any Russian historian, Rasputin collector, or purveyor of the strange and macabre. Diary format includes private details from the memory of Rasputin's killer - including detailed conversations, coded phrases used to signify that the act was complete, descriptions of the (quite grisly, botched) murder and aftermath, cleaning the scene + disposal of the body + articles of clothing, and photographs of people + places of significance in the life of Rasputin. Though quickly identified as the culprit, Purishkevich's political popularity ensured he was never punished for the crime. Photos in this listing are actual. This volume comes from a clean, smoke-free bookshop. Delivery note : We wrap our collectable books securely and professionally and ship via Media Mail with tracking.
