Description: Exquisite commemorative reprint of a Hashiguchi Goyo Masterwork. Hashiguchi Goyo, Japanese 1880-1921, was one the finest Shin-hanga woodblock print artists of the early 20th century. Originals of his works often command prices in the $10,000 range and sometimes even much more. The original blocks for his works were destroyed in the great earthquake of 1923. This very elegant and lovely print is a work from a very rare commemorative edition. Instead of following in the footsteps of the earlier ukiyo-e artists who most often chose their models from the famous courtesans of their time, Goyo preferred of paint the geishas, waitress and maids of his era.
