Description: Up for sale is this vintage 20th C Chinese blanc de chine / Dehua white porcelain statue figure sculpture in the Cultural Revolution style and period of a handsome young man who looks like a zookeeper as he presses his knee down onto the head of the large and ferocious looking lion or wildcat. The cat’s head is huge and claws look fierce. The man is very confident and certain in his abilities to control the wild animal. This is perhaps a symbol of the government taming the disobedient, this statue is quite special and certainly evokes the sentiments of the time and even now. Gorgeous white glaze and fantastic piece of scholar art! I believe this was made during the Cultural Revolution period (1966-1976). Measures 8.1” inches tall, 8.4” inches long, and 4.3” inches wide (20.6 cm, 21.3 cm, 10.9 cm) Rare piece in excellent condition with just a firing line original to production to no real cracks or chips or repairs. Large, impressive and seldom seen piece. Would make a great display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
