Description: Dates mid to late 1800's. British in origin. This shell treasure is made to resemble a miniature dresser with an aquarium back. This box is extremely rare, the aquarium has a three dimensional effect due to chromolithographed fish forms glued to a mirror behind glass. The back is made of paper to resemble wood, gold foil is used to form handles and trim the mirrors. The rest of the dresser is ornately decorated with shells. Measures approximately 6" in height with a base measurement of 3" x 5".Condition is good to fair. No missing shells.
