A regular attendee in Paris of Gertrude Stein's salons. Part of the avant-garde scene of the 1940's. The invitation to the show at Iolas Gallery from 10 April to 1 May (1976), features this photo by Lee Black Childer. The group picture includes Ford and many of his friends and associates. This invitation is unique in that it is signed by Ruth Ford (1911-2009) Charles' sister, a well-known actress. The card is addressed to Hugh Wheeler, the mystery writer novelist and screenwriter, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd etc. Printed postcard measures 6-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches . Printed message with printed signature. Original signature and "Hope to see you!" is in green ink. Addressed in blue ink. Stamp not cancelled. Light wear, very good condition.
