Rare regional temperance booklet, this being a sample copy "sent out in the hope of eliciting interest that will result in orders and increased circulation." The work is dedicated "To the wives and children, the innocent victims of the liquor traffic." Griffith was a Civil War veteran and Bellingham, WA pioneer who arrived there in the late 1880's. His booklet reproduces four of his own articles on temperance reform from the daily press: "Citizen Makes a Plea for Prohibition Cause" (March 14, 1908); "Temperance Advocate Cites Scripture to Prove His Point" (May 19, 1908); "Value of Alcohol as Medicine Questioned;" and "Opposed to Whisky." 6 x 4 1/2".
