To learn more about us please click on our profile ON DEMAND WE ISSUE A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY (money-back-guarantee) One more work of the well-known Parisian turn of the 19th century miniaturist Pierre Charles Cior in our possession.Executed (according to lady's dress (note her bridal gown! and hairstyle) in the mid 1800s it shows the sitter scratching her love oath on a tree's trunk (she uses a Cupid's arrow for scratching (allegorically)): "A-Toi-Pour-La Vie". Over this inscription she already scratched her fiance's ligated monogram "LD". Pierre Charles Cior (1769 Paris - ca. 1840 Paris) was a pupil of Bazil. At the Salon of 1796 he exhibited a frame containing several miniatures, and, in 1799, two other miniatures. It was thirty two years later in 1831 that Cior again participated at the Salon, making his final reappearance in 1838. The artist travelled a lot throughout his career. The details of his itineraries are unknown, yet it is known that he was appointed a Painter in Miniature to the King of Spain, and that he also worked quite a lot at the Russian Court, where, among others, he did the portraits of the Emperor Paul I of Russia and his wife, of Prince Kourakin and Princess Poniatowska. He also painted Prince Eszterhazy, the Queen of Holland, the Duke of Luxemburg, Louis XVIII and numerous other personalities.
