Description: Overview: Pearlweed (Hemianthus micranthemoides or Micranthemum micranthemoides) is a beautiful and undemanding stem plant that can be used to carpet the foreground of your aquarium or grown as a background plant in shallower tanks. Given the proper conditions, it is very fast-growing, Lighting: It does best in medium to bright lighting, but also tolerates lower light. Leaves will form more densely in bright light. CO2: Beneficial, but not essential. Substrate: Nutrient rich substrate preferred, but not essential. Trimming: Regular trimming helps this plant stay compact and encourages bushier growth. Fertilization: Occasional fertilization supports vibrant growth and health. Propagation: This plant propagates through stem cuttings. Simply cut a healthy stem and replant it in the substrate, where it will soon develop roots and grow into a new plant. I currently grow this plant under medium lighting and dose Thrive liquid fertilizer once or twice a week. I don’t use CO2. You will receive a clump of 20+ stems, grown submerged in the tank.
