Description: Passiflora foetida Alba is a vine in the Passifloraceae family. Some familiar names are stinking passionflower, wild maracuja, bush passion fruit, wild water lemon, stone flower, love-in-a-mist, or running pop. A native to Southwestern U.S. It has been introduced across most of the world. A creeping vine that grows 3 to 4 feet long from several vines. I trim mine back to crate more vines for more flowers. The small white flowers are about 1-2 inches across with a slight tinted purple ring. The net-like foliage is used to catch bees and other insects for consumption by the plant. These species' fruits are not edible. It grows in rich, well-drained soils. My plants grew in part shade and full sun, and both bloomed for me. Zones 5-10 Germination Scarify seeds with a nail file. Soak seeds overnight. Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-90 days.
