Pencil inscription verso reads "Corazon de las Andes / Heart of the Andes."Emilio Moncayo was born in Quito, Ecuador, to Abelardo Moncayo (minister to then-President Eloy Alfaro) and Margarita Moncayo. He painted many portraits, particularly of government officials. But he is best known for his mountainous country landscapes. His works are held by the Museo Aurelio Espinosa Polit in Quito, and by various other museums and private collections around the world. CONDITION Overall excellent. No discernable paint loss.
