Description: From my personal collection for your consideration: a delightful original final animation drawing of the Lion about to swallow a bomb he has ignited, hoping to rid himself of the tormenting Mouse now in his stomach. Instead, of course, the mouse escapes and the former “King of the Jungle” winds up with an explosive digestive problem. From one of legendary director Tex Avery’s best MGM screwball shorts, the 1947 Slaphappy Lion. The image appears about 4:39 into the cartoon. DESCRIPTION/CONDITION: The 6.00” x 6.25” (15.24 x 15.87 cm) graphite final animation drawing (from which a cel was directly created) is on an MGM 12 Field 10.50” x 12.50” (26.25 x 31.25cm) animation sheet. The sheet carries the number (“147”) in its upper right corner indicating where in its scene the image appears and has the MGM production stamp at its bottom edge. It shows only light uniform age toning and handling. The piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from a leading dealer in animation art..
