Description: From the Foire de Chatou, the large French flea market held twice yearly for over a century, rain or shine, on the outskirts of Paris. What started out as a celebration of French farmers and their pork products, with one or two people swapping used goods out of the back of their wagons, has become one of the largest Brocante and Antiques fairs in France. But not to worry, there is still plenty of pork to celebrate (along with many other mouthwatering foods made in France), featured on one long row of stalls in the middle of the fair. Foie gras spread on warm baguettes, duck confit with roasted potatoes, all kinds of grilled sausages, sandwiches, terrines, pates, jams, tarts, French olive oil, and even an oyster bar. And of course, loads of wine producers pour their best bottles, along with a pop up Champage Bar. After all, shopping for bargains is hungry work! This original antique landscape features the subtle beauty that is the Loire Valley. Rendered in thoughtful shades of green and silvery gray, it captures the mysterious beauty of this region.Unframed, oil on some type of very old, thick, compressed board. Paint loss to lower middle, as photographed. In good condition showing age appropriate wear and evidence of use. I might consider doing away with the lower 2 inches of the canvas, eliminating the area of paint loss while still maintaining the structure and focus of the piece. Signed, lower right front corner by the artist, read as either “A.Pemoine”, or perhaps “Semoine”. Please review all photos for an accurate depiction of condition. Dimensions height 12.75 inches x 15.25 inches unframed
