Description: NGC F - FINE - Roman AE4 of Zeno AD474-491 Zeno, born in Isauria in the Diocese of the East, served as the Eastern Roman emperor from 474 to 491, facing challenges such as revolts and religious conflicts during his rule. Prior to marrying Ariadne, the daughter of Eastern emperor Leo I, around 466 or 467, Zeno was known by the name Tarasicodissa. His reign witnessed the demise of the Western Roman Empire after the deposition of Romulus Augustus and the death of Julius Nepos. Despite the tumultuous times, Zeno is credited with significantly contributing to the stability of the Eastern Empire.
