Ned Jacob Matted Charcoal Portrait of a Young Man Signed

Description: Offered here is a portrait of a young man done in charcoal by Ned Jacob that is in close to excellent condition. The image measures about 14 by 21 ½ inches and the mat is approximately 19 by 27 inches. Jacob has signed the drawing “NJ” on the right side near the young man’s shoulder. Residue from the tape used to affix the print to a previous mat is evident on the back of the print, but it does not show through the current mat opening. In addition, there is a bit of a light wavy ripple in the lower half of the print. This drawing is one of a number of paintings, prints and drawings we acquired from the estate of Bill Bishop, long time art and antique dealer, who operated shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado. Please review the accompanying photographs carefully as they are the most important part of the description Ned Jacob, a nationally recognized artist, was born in Tennessee in 1938 and has lived in Denver for the most part since 1966. Jacob has apparently said that when drawing he works quickly, and that he doesn’t seem to be able to work slowly. The image in this drawing displays the energy evident in his approach. Jacob has traveled extensively and has drawn and painted in Mexico, Spain, Russia, the West Indies, Africa, Figi and Bali, as well as a number of states in this country.
