Description: This 20 Mexican peso coin commemorates the bicentennial death anniversary of Jose Maria Morelos, the revolutionary rebel leader and priest who led the Mexican War of Independence after the execution of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. It is composed of a copper-nickel alloy center and an outer brass ring. Its obverse side bears the Mexican coat of arms: a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus and eating a rattlesnake. The outer ring of the reverse side has the phrase Bicentenario Luctuoso Del Generalismo Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon on top, the commemorative dates at each side of the inner circle, and the value below. The inner circle of the reverse side of the coin bears the bust of Jose Maria Morelos. The coin weighs 15.95 g, is 2 mm thick, and has a diameter of 32 mm. The coin also has interrupted milled edges. This coin is one of the few Mexican coins that do not have the value in number form.
