Description: Sundance Children's Theater Poster illustrated, designed and signed by Maurice Sendak This beautiful and rare poster was created in 1988 for a collaboration between Robert Redford, Maurice Sendak and Arthur Yorinks to create the Sundance Children's Theater -Maurice Sendak as Artistic Director, and Arthur Yorinks as Associate Director. Their negotiations ultimately fell through so the theater never came to fruition. Later, Sendak and Yorinks created their own independent, national children's theater called The Night Kitchen Theater. The poster with its muted palette and delicate, beautifully drawn characters is printed on matte paper and measures 17" x 22", and is unframed. The poster will be rolled and packed for shipping. Maurice Sendak (1928-2012) was an American illustrator and writer of children's books. He became widely known for his book Where the Wild Things Are, first published in 1963. Besides Where the Wild Things Are, Sendak also wrote works such as In the Night Kitchen, Outside Over There, and illustrated many works by other authors including the Little Bear books by Else Holmelund Minarik.
