As Civil Rights leaders and attendees, totaling over 1000, gathered for a service to support The Freedom Riders, riots broke out outside the church. The National Guard and police had to be called in. The photo is dated 5/22/61 and has a United Press International stamp on the back. It is in very nice condition, with some small corner creases on the top right and bottom right corners.
