Description: Up for your consideration is this lot of 3 antique African Kiffa beads from Mauritania. These are a rare find for collectors of unique items and rare collectible beads. Handmade in Mauritania, this fancy style bead is a testament to the skill and creativity of Mauritanian women artisans, and is a skill that unfortunately died out many decades ago. The bead's origin and country of manufacture are reflected in its intricate details and beautiful design. This item belongs in the Collectibles category and is perfect for bead enthusiasts looking for a one-of-a-kind addition to their collection. This lot includes a striped off-round shape, an eyed bead that is also off round, and a blue tabular bead. The striped bead measures appropriately 9mm long, by 10 wide. The eyed bead measures appropriately 9mm long, by 10 wide, and the blue tabular bead measures 18mm long by 11mm wide, and 7mm thick. There is an old chip to the surface decoration the side of the striped bead, as well as near the hole on one end of the blue bead. These are visible in the photos. This is not uncommon for antique Kiffa beads, and luckily these beads have not been “repaired” by having been painted! Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, and be sure to check out my other GREAT items!
