This Lego features the RCX microcomputer, the minds of your robots that ensure your commands are obeyed effectively. You can program complicated models with ease using the Big block programming and Six pro challenges. Included are 2 motors, 1 light sensor, and 2 touch sensors, 717 parts, a CD, and instructions. Requires 6 AA batteries (not included). The set is new in an opened box (first 7 photos), with parts in original, sealed plastic bags. The box has significant shelf wear, as can be seen best in the side photos (including a tear when the seal was removed and tears in the box. LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System RCX 1.0 Model 9719 (new) is a 1998 set with 727 pieces. There are interactive training missions and challenges on the enclosed CD-ROM and the Lego Mindstorms website. Using your PC and the Lego Mindstorms CD-ROM software, you can create a program that lets your invention think and act on it own. With a click of a mouse you can instantly download your program from your PC to your RCS using the infrared transmitter. Start with the RCX 1.0 Microcomputer that is the brain of this Lego Mindstorms robot and later on attach 2 motors, 2 touch sensors, and a light sensor based on your creativity and imagination. The CD acts as a contructopedia that aids in crazy imaginations and ideas. This CD also offers 12 guided challenges for your Lego Mindstorms robot. This set is new and unused, but 1 (perhaps 2) plastic parts bags have been opened--the remainder are sealed. The box is also worn, especially on the bottom (tears wear seals were removed). BONUS--A pre-owned Lego Robotics Discovery Set 9735. This Mindstorm/RCX series set from 1999 is an excellent place to start for anyone just getting into robotic building--a great way to be introduced to the basic parts, sensors, motors, and how programming allows them to be integrated. There is an excellent selection of colorful and imaginative parts, and the instructions are very clear. This set includes the Electric Mindstorms Scout and the Technic Mini-Motors (2). The Scout microcomputer has a built-in light sensor, two touch sensors, two motors and allows you to easily program your creations. This Robotics set does not require a PC--another reason why it is an excellent starter set. Six (6) AA batteries are required but not included. Note that the Scout can control the microscout units included in sets 9748 and 9754 via VLL (please see my 9754 for sale (https://www.ebay.com/itm/324399252044). Three activity guides (Bug Book, Alarm Book, and Hoop-o-bot Book) are also included. This bonus set is pre-owned--I believe it has all or nearly all of the pieces, but I cannot guarantee it. At the very minimum, it has so many parts and the instructions that it will dramatically increase the size and complexity of the models you can build with the two new sets above.
