From the description card: Kershaw's "Original" Golden Boar Dagger Recently discovered in Solingen, Germany, the elegant Golden Boar was originally manufactured until 1918. It was a favoriteweapon among the military officers of the German Army's elite "special forces" alpine and forest troops who were stationed in theArdennes during WWI and who fought in that illustrious campaign of the Great War. The striking design features a solid brass Boar's Head buttcap and a bolster with cross-guards cast as boar's feet, inspired bythe ill-tempered-and fierce when disturbed-European boar which foraged in the Ardennes. Highly-prized by the officers whohunted them, many boar were carefully dispatched with a coup de grace delivered by the Golden Boar, for even a mortally woundedboar can mount a lethal attack. The tools and dies for manufacturing the original Golden Boar Dagger were located and used in manufacturing this stunningre-creation-not a "reproduction" of the original dagger. Only the tang of the formidable double-sided ten-inch blade and theinner handle assembly have been altered to effect improved modern fitting techniques. The magnificent mirror-polished blade isforged by hand in stainless steel, reflecting advances in metallurgy, and the scales of the handle are crafted in black Micarta. The second in Kershaw Knives' series of authentic re-creations of extraordinary knives, the Golden Boar Dagger is limited to anedition of 5,000 serial-number engraved daggers. With it, Kershaw offers collectors the rare opportunity to acquire a stunning re-creation of an exquisite knife, masterfully fabricated in Solingen by third- and fourth-generation craftsmen.© 1990, KAI USA, Ltd.
