Description: A pleasing, well printed example of this early Revolutionary War issue, printed prior to the issuance of the Declaration of Independence. This June 1, 1775 Fifty Pound denomination is rare; only 6,000 notes were printed of this highest denomination in the June 1775 issue and was printed in a larger size measuring about 3.5" tall and 6" wide. It is uniquely styled, with an ornate large vignette at the lower right designed to prevent counterfeiting. It shows a woman frightened by a storm sitting next to a tree. The back depicts a large calligraphic design flourishes and a banner reading "For the Publick Good". The note is in solid shape with only some left indent margin paper slits with one tiny paper reinforcement at the bottom centerfold edge, as commonly seen on these larger prints. All signatures present. Note is well centered with the left edge unevenly cut. Originally acquired from the Early American History Auctions house.
