Description: Nine Stories By J.D. Salinger FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING Hardcover with NO Dust Jacket This is a FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING of Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger. This book, Salinger’s debut collection of short stories, was the world’s introduction to the Glass family. It contains two of Salinger’s most famous stories, A Perfect Day for Bananafish and For Esmé — With Love and Squalor. This book, which lacks the dust jacket, has some writing in ink to one story only (specifically, some writing to 12 pages of Down at the Dinghy (pp. 112-114, 116, 118, and 124-130)), slight lean to the left resulting in a bit of cocking to spine (but nothing that wouldn’t disappear once it is placed on a shelf between other books), a prior owner’s name written on the front pastedown endpaper, loss of gilt to the lettering on the spine, soiling to the bottom edge of the page block, and roughly the first half of the book has lightly toned pages (as is common with this title), which toning is most noticeable when viewing the edges of the page block, some shelfwear, edgewear, and bumping to the spine ends and to the front board, light soiling and faint dampstaining to a corner of the rear board. Again, it has no dust jacket. Please see photographs as to condition. That said, this is an eminently readable book, scarce as a first edition, and it is one of Mr. Salinger’s most indelible works. It is not ex-library, not a book club edition, and not remaindered. It will be shipped bubble-wrapped in a box.
