Description: Up for sale is the first edition of Incidents of Travel in Central America Chiapas & Yucatan by John Stephens. Published in 1841 by Harper & Brothers. This landmark two volume set is full of engravings and an important work. All illustrations are present. Please note a few do not match up exactly with the page they have listed at table of contents. Most are within a page or two however one illustration, "Profile of Nicaragua Canal" is listed as being on 312. It is actually on 412. We have gone through and checked to be sure they are all present. Overall volumes are in fair condition. Boards have wear and soling. Spines with chips (see photos) some dings and chips along edges of boards. Interior has moderate foxing in many places. Heavy at front and back on boards it lightens up through book. Many of the engravings still have tissue guards and where that is the case sometimes tissues have a good amount of foxing but engravings are ok. Wear to pages. other small dings here and there. Not perfect but a decent set. Please email with questions and see my store for other great items.
