Description: Illinois Central Hospital, 5800 Stony Island Ave., Chicago, Illinois. Postmarked 1957. This was originally a free hospital for employees of the Illinois Central Railroad. It was later the Hyde Park Community Hospital. It was torn down in 2011. The University of Chicago built the Earl Shapiro Hall (Lab School) on this site in 2013. I am selling postcards from my aunt's postcard collection because she can no longer enjoy them and she hopes you will. To keep prices down, a postcard is shipped in a standard white envelope with a piece of cardboard in it to avoid bending. If you need tracking I can ship in a flat rate envelope, but the shipping is a lot more expensive.
