This shell has lighter color spots than most Cassis Tuberosa King Helmet Shells. This shell is similar to the Cassis Cornuta but more rare especially at this size. The Cassis Cornuta Shell is also called the Queen Helmet Shell and has more prominent horns. These Huge Cassis Tuberosa shells often sell for $800.00- $3,000.00. There are currently many priced in that range on the Etsy website. I purchased this shell from the owner of a sea shell shop on the Washington Coast when he closed his store 30 years ago. He kept this shell as a display because he said it was the biggest and most beautiful Cassis Tuberosa sea shell ha had ever seen. He said these shells become more valuable the less they weigh for their size. The lighter weight means the shell is thinner, more porcelain like and translucent. He said this was the most translucent Cassie Cornet shell he had ever seen at any size but also the biggest one he had ever seen. There are two areas on the base of the shell that may be chipped areas. They are shown in the last picture. The previous owner of this shell thought the chips may have happened when the shell was harvested.
