Description: Price reduced. Fantastic early Japanese cloisonné bowl supported by three elephant head shaped legs. The bowl is fourteen and a half inches diameter. The bowl is six and a quarter inches tall. This is the early Japanese cloisonné that is thin and before the introduction of the German pigments. The sides of the interior of the bowl have four mythological horses. The underside of the bowl is copper while the elephants appear to be brass. The center of the bowl has a dragon and fish reaching for the mythological flaming pearl. There is a crack on one side where the rim meats the bowl. The piece exhibits experimental techniques of early Japanese cloisonné before the introduction of German pigments and pictorial style of later cloisonné. This is a museum piece .
